Training:

We welcome students or individuals who would like to gain experience working within the industry. At Exmoor Fisheries all aspects of Rainbow Trout production are covered, providing an excellent learning environment. Over the years we have had several individuals complete work placements and go on to further education or employment within the industry.

Kelvin Moolman - BSc Aquaculture and Fisheries Management Student (2nd year)

I first visited Exmoor Fisheries in 2012 for a 2 week work placement. I had been a keen angler from a young age and wanted an insight into the industry. After the placement I decided to pursue fish farming as a career. I completed my A Levels at Richard Huish College and have just finished my first year studying BSc Aquaculture and Fishery Management at Sparsholt, Hampshire. As a first year degree placement I returned to Exmoor Fisheries for the month of January and now work here during my free time away from University. Exmoor Fisheries is an fine example of a Rainbow Trout restocking farm, accompanied by extremely knowledgeable staff making for a brilliant practical learning environment.

Jack Jarvis - BSc Biological Sciences

Jack initially worked for us part-time alongside his studies before starting full-time after graduating from Exeter University.  He discovered a keen interest for aquaculture while at university writing a dissertation based on novel water chemistry data from Atlantic salmon farms using recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) in Scotland.
Jack is from North Devon so naturally spends most of his free time in the ocean surfing or riding his bike along the coast.
